Consultation has concluded

Council is preparing an Onsite Wastewater Management Policy to:

  • facilitate the safe and sustainable management of on-site wastewater systems
  • observe Council’s obligations under current State legislation, in particular, the NSW Environment Protection and Health Guidelines for On-Site Sewage Management for Single House Households (Feb 1998)

A draft of the Onsite Wastewater Management Policy is on public exhibition from Thursday 6 September to Thursday 4 October 2018. Submissions close on Thursday 18 September 2018.

The policy will also aim to:

  • communicate the requirements necessary for existing and potential owners to gain approval for effective installation and operation of on-site wastewater systems
  • educate property owners, managers and plumbers of the best practices in construction and maintenance of these systems
  • make best use of the relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards applicable to on-site wastewater, with applied scientific knowledge

Printed copies of the draft policy are on display at Council’s Civic Administration Building, 135 Rusden Street, Armidale and Guyra Office 158 Bradley Street Guyra from 6 September 2018 to 4 October 2018.
