Residents in the Armidale Region Local Government Area are invited to express their interest in membership of the Air Quality Working Group. The group will be setup as a sub-committee of the Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee. Young people and Indigenous community members are strongly encouraged to submit an application.

The aim of the working group is to improve community awareness of the negative impact to human health from air polluted by domestic wood heating, bushfires or any other significant source of air pollution. The scope of the working group is to research, explore funding opportunities, make recommendations, and assist in implementing initiatives to reduce the threat to human health from air pollutIon.

The role of the individual is:

  • Contribute to the goals of the working group and achieve safe and healthy air in our community;
  • Have some knowledge of air pollution and what can be done to reduce it;
  • Be passionate about using your skills to make a positive contribution to cleaning up our air and improving our health;
  • Ability to explore funding opportunities and work with other agencies towards obtaining funding;
  • Work towards the goals of the group of clean air, reduced heating costs and less global warming;
  • Be able to gather ideas from others within the community.

Expenses will not be reimbursed

Expenses will not be reimbursed unless Council resolves otherwise. Working group members will not be remunerated for their time and no reimbursement of travel expenses will be payable, unless prior approval is received from the General Manager (or delegate).

Information is also provided on other Environmental Sustainability policies, including: EcoARC Greenprint strategy that was adopted on 11 December 2019 and will guide Council’s operations and assist groups in the community to improve sustainability in our region.

Submissions are invited and must be addressed to the General Manager, Armidale Regional Council, PO Box 75A, Armidale NSW 2350 or sent by e-mail to council@armidale.nsw.gov.au(External link)

Submissions must be received by Council no later than 10pm on Tuesday, 13 April 2021.
