Consultation has concluded

We are inviting the community - individuals, groups and businesses to work alongside Council to plan for the region’s future.

The Armidale Regional Plan 2040 will provide an overarching strategy and vision for the future, reflect the priorities of the community and give certainty around the direction of plans and growth for the next 20 years.

This plan for the Armidale Regional Council area will bring together strategies, precinct and master plans developed in recent years. It will inform the decisions we make for our future and the development of our Local Strategic Planning Statement.

We know that there have been times when the Armidale Regional Council area has flourished more than the present. We are seeking to build on current and past success to focus on future actions. It will be a plan that is achievable but with ‘stretch’ targets, it will be one that empowers the community to join with Council to create an exciting future. A plan that acknowledges, supports and grows the existing capacity, assets and resources.

Once finalised the Plan is scheduled to be adopted by Council in the second half of 2020. It will identify priority projects and provide a direction for Council to continue to work with community, industry and government partners to realise the Plan’s vision. The Plan will be on public exhibition and open for further community comment towards the middle of 2020.

Get involved in shaping the region’s future by participating in one of the following:

  • Café catch ups – We want to hear from as many of you as possible including those we do not normally hear from - so join us for a coffee at some time between the hours below and tell us what you think.
    • Guyra – Tuesday 3 December12- 2 pm - Juneils Cafe - 120A Bradley St
    • Armidale – Tuesday 3 December – 4- 7 pm - Bistro on Cinders - 14 Cinders Lane
  • Ideas can be posted below
  • Register your interest in participating in a day long Citizen Panel in March 2020. An independent research agency will select a group of people to give detailed input to the plan, those selected will represent values and interests from across the region.

We understand that with drought and now fires this is a difficult time for many of you to engage and respond to questions about plans for the future. The NSW State Government is asking that we complete this plan in 2020. Engagement with the community as part of this stage will be extended through to the middle of January, and other stages will go into 2020 including the Citizen Panel and exhibition of the draft plan.

We can work with you at this time to find the best means and timing for you to communicate to us. Please contact us on council@armidale.nsw.gov.au
