Consultation has concluded

Council has updated its Asbestos Policy so it is consistent with NSW legislative requirements, based on the Model Asbestos Policy for NSW Councils.

The policy outlines:

  • the role of Council and other organisations in managing asbestos
  • Council’s relevant regulatory powers and approval processes
  • Council’s approach to dealing with naturally occurring asbestos, sites contaminated by asbestos and emergencies or incidents
  • general advice for residents on renovating homes that may contain asbestos
  • waste management and regulation procedures for asbestos waste in the LGA

The Draft Asbestos Policy is on Public Exhibition from Friday 26 October to Friday 30 November.

Residents and others are invited to make submissions by mail to Armidale Regional Council, 75A Rusden Street, Armidale 2350, by email to council@armidale.nsw.gov.au or dropped off in person to the Armidale or Guyra Offices. Submissions close Friday 30 November 2018 at 5pm.
