Consultation has concluded

Armidale Regional Council in collaboration with consultants, Ecosure, has developed a Draft Camp Management Plan for the flying-foxes in Black Gully. Once approved by the Office and Environment and Heritage, the plan will provide Council with a framework to alleviate community concerns and impacts, whilst ensuring flying-foxes and the critical ecosystem functions that they provide, are conserved.

The grey-headed flying-fox (Pteropus poliocephalus) is a vulnerable species under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and the New South Wales Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016. Management of flying-foxes or their habitat must be in line with the Australian Government’s Referral guideline for management actions in grey-headed and spectacled flying-fox camps and the Draft Recovery Plan for the Grey-headed Flying-fox Pteropus poliocephalus.
