At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Wednesday 22 April 2026, Council endorsed the Draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2026-2030 for public exhibition from Thursday 23 April to Friday 22 May 2026.
Background
Under the Disability Inclusion Act 2014, all NSW Government Departments, including all local councils are required to develop a Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP). Armidale Regional Council’s latest DIAP ran from 2022 to 2026. An updated DIAP has been developed for the next four years, 2026 to 2030. The DIAP aims to guide Council in ways to remove barriers for people living with a disability and create a more accessible and inclusive community.
The draft DIAP includes specific goals to guide Council’s actions, to improve services for people living with a disability across the next four years. Included in the DIAP is the provision of the Access Advisory Committee, which will continue to assist Council in achieving the goals included in the plan. By placing the draft plan on public exhibition, the wider public will have an opportunity to contribute to the proposed goals and actions. Any feedback received will be reviewed by the Access Advisory Committee for inclusion in the final plan.
Submissions are invited and must be addressed to the General Manager, Armidale Regional Council, PO Box 75A, Armidale, NSW 2350, or sent by email to council@armidale.nsw.gov.au and marked 'Submission on Draft 2026/27 Operational Plan and Budget'.
Submissions must be received by Friday 22 May 2026
Please be aware that if you make a submission, other people may have access to your comments. This may be as a result of a report to a Council meeting or as part of an application under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.
