At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Wednesday, 26 February 2025 the Council endorsed the Draft Acceptance and Assessment of Development Applications Policy to be placed on public exhibition for a period of 28 days from Wednesday, 5 March to Wednesday, 2 April 2025.

The purpose of this policy is to outline Council's procedural requirements for the Acceptance and Assessment of Development Applications and related procedures.

This policy applies to all development applications, modification of consents and review of determination pursuant to the Environmental planning and Assessment Act 1979. The policy will apply to all stages of the development application process including:

1. Pre-lodgement
2. Lodgement and Allocation of Development applications
3. Assessment of Applications
4. Determination
5. Post Consent

The objectives of this policy are to:

1. Support the continuous improvement of the delivery of development assessment services.
2. Achieve and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency in the assessment and decision-making process.
3. Ensure applicants are aware of the requirements to provide quality and complete assessment ready applications, and that additional information required or requested will have an associated deadline.
4. Allow application to resolve issues prior to determination within a specified timeframe A fundamental prerequisite to this objective is a system that ensures that all submitted applications contain the required information to allow Council to undertake an informed and timely assessment.

Submissions can be made via hard copy at one of council's offices: 135 Rusden Street, Armidale; or 158 Bradley Street, Guyra), or in electronic format via email to: council@armidale.nsw.gov.au

Submissions must be received by 11.59pm Wednesday 2 April 2025.
