At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Wednesday 23 April 2025 the Council endorsed the draft Draft Liquid Trade Waste Policy for placing on public exhibition for a period of 28 days from Wednesday 30 April to Wednesday 28 May 2025.

It was resolved that Council

a) Endorse the Draft Trade Waste Policy for public exhibition for a period of 28 days.

b) Receive a further report should any submissions be received during the exhibition period, however, should no submissions be received, the policy be adopted.


Draft Liquid Trade Waste Policy

The purpose of this policy is to outline the procedural guidelines used by Council to regulate liquid trade waste discharges within the Armidale Local Government Area.

The objectives of this policy are:

  • to protect public and workers health and safety and the environment;
  • protect council’s assets from damage;
  • minimise adverse impacts on the sewage treatment processes;
  • to assist council meeting regulatory and licence compliance;
  • promote water conservation, waste minimization, cleaner production, effluent recycling and biosolids reuse;
  • provide an environmentally responsible liquid trade waste service to the non-residential sector;
  • ensure commercial provision of services and full cost recovery through appropriate sewerage and liquid trade waste fees and charges.

Submissions are invited and must be addressed to:

Submissions can be made via hard copy at one of council's offices: 135 Rusden Street, Armidale; or 158 Bradley Street, Guyra), or in electronic format via email to: council@armidale.nsw.gov.au

Submissions must be received by 11.59pm Wednesday 28 May 2025.
