At Monday’s Council Meeting Council endorsed to place the draft Loan Borrowing Policy on public exhibition for a period of 28 days.
At the Ordinary Council meeting held on Monday 29 June 2026, Council endorsed the Draft Loan Bowwing Policy for public exhibition from Friday 3 July to Friday 31 July 2026.
Background
The purpose of this Policy is to establish a clear and prudent framework for the use and management of loan borrowings by Council.
Section 622 of the Local Government Act 1993 enables councils to borrow by way of overdraft or loan.
A formal Loan Borrowing Policy provides a structured decision-making framework to support Council in meeting both current and future service obligations.
Submissions are invited and must be addressed to the General Manager, Armidale Regional Council, PO Box 75A, Armidale, NSW 2350, or sent by email to council@armidale.nsw.gov.au and marked 'Submission on Draft Policy Framework'.
Submissions must be received by Friday 31 July 2026
