Guyra main street mural

Guyra’s main street is getting a spectacular new mural and you can help finalise the design.

Guyra Central School students created illustrations of animals native to the area and internationally-acclaimed artist James Price brought those illustrations together into two draft mural designs.

We’re inviting community members to indicate their preferred concept and provide feedback to play a part in finalising the designs.

Council liaised with Guyra Central School and engaged James to create the mural as part of the Guyra Main Street upgrade.

The design focuses on many of the wildlife and livestock that call Guyra home. The mural and its creation will contribute to a more attractive town centre for locals and visitors, while helping the community develop a stronger connection to the region’s environment and unique cultural identity.

We’re inviting community feedback until 23 December 2020 and James will then use the poll result and other feedback to complete the preferred concept.

The mural will appear on the main street toilet block, the new street stall structure and other main street features.

It is scheduled to be painted by James in early 2021.
