Options for a midday traffic window during main construction
Seymour Whyte Constructions (SWC) were awarded the Early Contractor Involvement contract for the project by Armidale Regional Council in November 2022.
In April 2023, SWC undertook a survey of residents to obtain community feedback to help develop their construction methodology. The feedback has helped in the development of the main construction works program which includes a 10-day on, four-day off work roster and traffic access arrangements.
These arrangements are necessary because of the remoteness of the project, narrowness of the road and the large amount of equipment and individual worksites which will be operating at any given time.
As work progresses on the development of a final works program, opportunities are being investigated which could reduce the length and cost of the main construction works.
Two options have been looked at to see how the project could make some gains in terms of time and cost. Option 1 and 2 are indicative only and have been investigated to estimate cost and time savings compared to the existing traffic access arrangement. These options can be found in a pdf presentation within the "Documents" folder on the top right hand side of this page.
Your feedback is important, especially if you live within the project boundaries or along Kempsey Road and its side road connections. The road is closed to the general public with the only exceptions being local residents of the road for essential travel and essential and emergency services.
