🌳 Help shape the future of our open spaces

We are developing a new Open Space and Recreation Strategy—and we want to hear from you!

As our community grows, we’re planning for the future of parks, reserves, trails, and recreation facilities across the region. This strategy will guide how we plan, acquire, develop, and manage public open spaces over the next 15 years.

It will also help ensure these spaces are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with local and state planning frameworks—supporting healthy lifestyles and responding to challenges like climate change and biodiversity.

What we mean by open space and recreation facilities?

Recreation means the activities you do in your own time, (and away from home) for health and wellbeing, enjoyment, exercise and social interaction. In this survey open space means public parks for relaxation, visual amenity, community gardens, camping and bushland reserves, conservation areas, memorial parks, lakes and waterways, trails and paths along corridors, playgrounds, and sporting facilities for example.

We would like to hear from you about Council’s parks and reserves, and sports and recreation facilities:

  1. Which parks and recreation facilities you currently use and value most.
  2. What you think should be improved if funding becomes available.
  3. How Council can plan for the needs of a growing population.
  4. What your top priorities are for future investment and improvement.
