Consultation has concluded

Council is establishing a new facility for the Guyra Early Childhood Learning Centre, which we propose to build behind our Civic Administration Building in Guyra.

The purpose-built facility will further enhance Guyra Preschool and Long Day Care Centre’s services to the community, by providing a fit-for-purpose, modern and safe building and playground.

Development Application No. 125-2020 - for the new Early Childhood Learning Centre Building, new carpark and landscaping – is on public exhibition from Wednesday 14 October to 11 November 2020.

Submissions are invited and must be addressed to the Acting General Manager, Armidale Regional Council, PO Box 75A, Armidale, NSW 2350, or sent by email to council@armidale.nsw.gov.au

Submissions must be received by Council no later than 5pm on Wednesday 11 November 2020.

Please be aware that if you make a submission, other people may have access to your comments. This may be as a result of a report to a Council meeting or as part of an application under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009. Also, under State legislation, any person making a submission on a Draft LEP amendment must also disclose whether they or an ‘associate’ have made a ‘reportable political donation’ or gift to a local Councillor or Council employee within the period commencing two years before any submission is made and ending when the Draft LEP is determined. Further details including disclosure forms are available on request from Council.

Printed copies of the Development Application can be viewed at our Armidale and Guyra offices.

The project will replace the Guyra Preschool and Long Day Care Centre’s existing facility (pictured above) and is proposed to increase the service's capacity to 58 long day care and preschool places and 30 before and after school care and vacation care places. The added capacity would increase the number of families that can benefit from the service and boost the service’s financial viability.

The project has been assisted by funding from the Federal Government, with input from Council.

The new location in the heart of Guyra will improve the Early Childhood Learning Centre’s connectivity with other resources and reinforce a cultural and community nucleus in Bradley Street, including the Guyra Library, The Hub and the Guyra Civic Administration Building.

Council is committed to quality care and early childhood education. A strong start at preschool will improve educational and welfare outcomes for our future generations. The new Learning Centre will be a fitting environment for our skilled staff to prepare children for their primary school experience.

Visit our Works & Projects page for the Guyra Early Childhood Learning Centre for further details about the project.
