At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Wednesday 23 July 2025 the Council endorsed the draft Public Interest Disclosure Policy for public exhibition from Thursday 24 July to Tuesday 26 August 2025.

It was resolved that Council

That Council: a. Endorse the draft Public Interest Disclosure Policy to be placed on public exhibition for a period of 28 days, noting if no submissions are received during the public exhibition period the policy will be adopted at the conclusion of the exhibition period.


The Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 commenced 1 October 2023 replacing the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1994. As a result, on 28 February 2024 council endorsed a revised policy, and issued a program of training to staff and public officials to fulfil the legislative requirements incumbent upon Armidale Regional Council under the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 (PID Act 2022).

To comply with the requirements of the PID Act 2022, Council has revised and updated the Public Interest Disclosure Policy. This Policy is based on the model policy provided by the NSW Ombudsman.
