21st Century Libraries

A 21st Century Libraries Strategy is being developed to make the Armidale region’s libraries more vibrant hubs where people can learn, join in group activities or just meet friends.

Everyone in the community is invited to help shape the strategy, by sharing how they use the Armidale and Guyra libraries and how they would like to be able to use them in the future.

We want to make the libraries a more central part of residents’ daily lives, to connect with one another and, through digital technology, the rest of the world.

The strategy will aim to:

  • encourage a greater proportion of our community to utilise the libraries’ resources and spaces
  • ensure the libraries offer resources that enable everyone to expand their knowledge or do business
  • ensure the libraries have versatile spaces that easily accommodate a wide variety of groups and activities

The Armidale region libraries have an enviable collection of books and other materials. The strategy aims to build upon that collection by embracing diversity and technology to create 21st Century libraries that are vibrant, engaging and dynamic.

Community members can provide input until Friday 30 August 2019 by:

  • Completing our online survey. Printed copies of the survey are also available at the Guyra and Armidale libraries.
  • Participating in one of the community forums. See ‘Key Dates’ for times and locations for the series of workshops.
  • Written submissions :
Mailed to Armidale Regional Council, 75A Rusden Street, Armidale 2350,
    Email to council@armidale.nsw.gov.au, or
Dropped off in person to the Armidale or Guyra Offices.

What would you change to make the Guyra and Armidale libraries more useful or attractive for you to learn, join in group activities or just meet friends? How can we make them libraries for the 21st Century?
