Council is finalising an Armidale Regional Libraries Strategic Plan that aims to make our libraries more vibrant hubs where people can learn, join in group activities or just meet friends. We want to make the libraries a more central part of residents’ daily lives, to connect with one another and, through digital technology, the rest of the world.

The strategic plan was informed by a 21st Century Libraries community engagement, which asked people how they use the Armidale and Guyra libraries and how they would like to utilise them in the future

The engagement program included two community surveys, one for young people and one for the wider community.

See a summary of the survey results

The strategic plan will aim to:

  • encourage a greater proportion of our community to utilise the libraries’ resources and spaces
  • ensure the libraries offer resources that enable everyone to expand their knowledge or do business
  • ensure the libraries have versatile spaces that easily accommodate a wide variety of groups and activities

The Armidale region libraries have an enviable collection of books and other materials. The strategic plan will build upon that collection by embracing diversity and technology to create 21st Century libraries that are vibrant, engaging and dynamic.

  • A blueprint is being developed to make the Armidale region’s libraries more vibrant hubs where people can learn, join in group activities or just meet friends.

A 21st Century Libraries Strategy Plan is being developed by Council and everyone in the community is being invited to share how they would like to be able to use the Armidale and Guyra libraries.

Young people are important users of our libraries and their services. We encourage young people to share their thoughts in this survey.

It's important we hear from all young people, from those who visit the libraries regularly to those who very rarely or never use our library services.

The survey will close on Sunday 18 November 2019.
