Consultation has concluded

The LSPS is a new strategic planning document that all councils in NSW must develop. The Draft Armidale Regional LSPS provides a 20 year land use vision for the Armidale region and has been developed in conjunction with State, Regional and Council Plans including the New England North West Regional Plan 2036 and the Armidale Regional Community Strategic Plan 2017-2027.

The LSPS provides a central point to ensure that regional priorities are placed within a clear local context and tailored to the unique economic, social and environmental characteristics of the Armidale Regional LGA. The vision identifies the future direction for planning to meet the community’s changing needs under the themes of economy, community, infrastructure and environment.

Council is undertaking consultation with the community during the Public Exhibition period from 31 August to 28 September 2020 to introduce the draft LSPS, and outline a plan for further input from the community on identified priorities and actions.

The draft Local Strategic Planning Statement is on Public Exhibition for a period of 28 days. Residents are invited to make submissions by;

  • mail to Armidale Regional Council, 75A Rusden Street, Armidale 2350,
  • email to council@armidale.nsw.gov.au or
  • dropped off in person to the Armidale or Guyra Offices.

Submissions will close on Monday 28 September 2020. Public submissions will be treated as non-confidential unless the submitter specifically requests confidentiality. Submitters are also allowed to have their submissions treated as non-confidential, except for the name of the submitter, or other identifying material.

  • Council is seeking your feedback on the draft Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) Planning Priorities. Please take a moment to answer the following questions to help us prioritise the proposed LSPS planning actions.

    Your feedback will be combined with others and reported to Council to help decide LSPS   implementation priorities.

    LSPS Vision

    The LSPS vision is:

    The Armidale Regional Council local government area is an exemplary sustainable region of New England, defined by its rich agricultural lands and its attractive natural environment, complemented by a series of well serviced interconnected communities, with the city of Armidale as the regional hub.

    The Armidale area offers a positive, healthy and vibrant country lifestyle.  Its identity is founded on its diverse economy, cultural heritage, civic and educational institutions and strong sense of community.

    Planning Priorities

    Planning priorities have been formulated (refer table below) to facilitate achievement of the LSPS vision in a manner consistent with relevant content in the State Government’s New England North West Regional Plan 2036 and in the Council’s Community Strategic Plan 2017 – 2027.
